Endodontic microsurgery is a surgical procedure utilizing a sophisticated operating microscope and special microsurgical instruments. The increased magnification and illumination greatly improves diagnostic capabilities and the precision of surgical procedures. Long-term prognosis is enhanced and post-surgical trauma is reduced.
Patient comfort is a primary concern. All procedures are performed utilizing local anesthesia. Post-operative complications are rare, but swelling and/or bruising may occur. Discomfort after the procedure is minimal, and readily controlled with medications. Detailed written instructions will be given concerning post-operative care and the doctor is available for consultation at all times should a problem arise.
1. Please eat as usual.
2. Continue all medications for blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid problems and any other conditions as recommended by your physician. If there is a question, please call our office prior to your surgery.
3. If you are on an aspirin regimen or any blood-thinning medication, please inform us so that consultation with your physician about changing the regimen before surgery can be accomplished.
4. If you are not on an aspirin regimen, please do not take aspirin or aspirin containing medications one week prior to your appointment.
5. If you have been advised by your physician or dentist to use antibiotic pre-medication because of a cardiac condition or prosthetic joint replacement, please make sure you take the appropriate antibiotic regimen one hour before your surgical appointment.
If you have any questions prior to treatment do not hesitate to contact our office.
